Protection Orders issued by the Municipal or Common Pleas Courts in a criminal case are temporary. They expire at the end of the case or sentencing of the defendant.
Civil Protection Orders issued by the Domestic Relations Court can last up to five years and may be renewed. Civil Protection Orders issued by the Domestic Relations Court can also address issues of custody, division of property and financial support.
A defendant in a domestic violence or similar case can be arrested for violating either.

The Auxiliary Officers provide vacation watches in the form of an exterior security inspection of your home while you are away. If a problem is observed, contact will be made with the key holder that you designate.

Make a police report with the department. At that time, you will be provided with a police report number and referred to the annoyance bureau of your phone company.
With the report number, the phone company will initiate a trap/trace on your land line phone for a set period of time, and the results will be forwarded to the Police Department upon completion. Cellular phone related matters should be referred to your provider.
To aid prosecution, keep a notepad by your phone to record the days and times the harassing calls occur so the phone company or prosecutor can match the offender's phone number to the tap records.

The Tallmadge City Jail is a temporary holding facility. Prisoners at Tallmadge will generally be bonded out or transported to the Summit County Jail.
